CREEPING BENTGRASS SEED

"Penntrio"Creeping Bentgrass
A great blend of Pencross, Peneagle, and Penlinks creeping bent grasses. A fine-leaved, cool-season perennial which is adapted to cool and humid regions. Tolerates low temperatures and relatively poor, wet soils. Used primarily on golf courses for putting greens and winter overseed; produces high quality turf. The grass of choice for lawn bowling. Likes full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Requires frequent mowing, or will build an extensive thatch layer.
Seeding rate 1 lb/750 sq.ft.

"Penncross" Creeping Bentgrass
Aggressiveness, vigor, and wear tolerance make Penncross a natural for greens, tees, and fairways. Penncross' ability to perform under a wide range of conditions makes this bentgrass adaptable virtually worldwide. Golf course architects have specified Penncross for areas of extreme cold and heat, and Penncross has survived humidity where bermudagrass used to be the standard.

Penncross is designed for extensively managed golf greens and tees and lawn bowling surfaces. Penncross performs best in soils with a pH of 5.5 to 8. It has a moderate nitrogen requirement with 1-2 pounds of actual N per 1,000 square feet per year adequate in most situations. Penncross' optimum mowing height is 3/16 to 5/16 inch but can be adjusted higher or lower depending upon maintenance practices and intended use. Penncross performs best on a sandy soil and tolerates clay soils with adequate drainage. Most bentgrasses do not perform well in wet areas, however, Penncross can tolerate saturated soil conditions for short periods of time.

Penncross can be seeded from 1-2 pounds per 1,000 square feet depending on the application. Cover seed to a depth not exceeding ¼" and keep seedlings moist until well rooted. Germination will take place in 7-15 days depending on soil temperatures, and the first mowing may be expected within 30 days, or when the plants have sufficiently rooted. Mow at a 3/4" height of cut or lower until turf is established. Limited use of the area can be expected in 6 weeks.
Seeding rate 1 -2 lbs/1000 sq. ft.

"Penneagle" Creeping Bentgrass
The top performing fairway bentgrass. Penneagle germinates quickly and has an upright, dense growth habit which helps crowd out Poa annua. Penneagle is salt tolerant. While not as aggressive as Penncross, the new variety competes with Poa annua on fairways, and with tripler mowers and clipping removal, will crowd out the nuisance entirely. Penneagle's salt tolerance makes it useful along coastal areas and where effluent water is used.

Studies have shown that Penneagle has a wide adaptability, tight, more upright growth characteristics than Penncross, and has a finer leaf than most other creeping bents.
Seeding rate 1-2 lbs/1000 sq ft.

"Pennlinks" Creeping Bentgrass
Developed for grainless greens, PennLinks became an instant success when introduced in 1987. PennLinks has upright, dense growth for true putting, dense growth for true putting. PennLinks has fine texture and heat tolerance. --- When Dr. Joe Duich developed PennLinks exclusively for putting greens, he was looking for an upright growing, virtually grainless putting surface that would perform predictably over a broad climatalogical range. With vacationing golfers comparing surfaces all over the world and a playing professional's reputation 'on the line' with each putt, a universally manageable, premium quality surface was the order.
Seeding rate 1 lb/750 sq.ft.

"Seaside" Creeping Bentgrass
Same basic qualities as other bentgrasses, but is the old version. Penntrio's blends are the new improved varieties, but Seaside still is a quality seed for less money. Salt tolerant Seaside was developed exclusively for fairways and is useful along coastlines and where effluent water is used for irrigation. Seaside has shown the ability to thrive under high pH conditions.
Seeding rate 1 lb/750 sq.ft.
