FESCUE GRASS SEED

"Capitol" Chewings Fescue
A fine-textured cool-season aggressive perennial bunchgrass, which has erect growth habit. Well adapted to cool, humid areas. Needs reasonably good drainage, but grows on poor, drier sites and on highly acidic soils. Has good drought tolerance. A major turfgrass for open sun, yet is very shade tolerant. Forms a dense wear-resistant turf when seeded thickly. Mixes well with other grasses; is frequently used in mixtures with bluegrasses and turf-type perennial ryegrass.
Seeding rate 5 lbs/1000 sq.ft.

Creeping Red Fescue
A fine-textured, cool-season sod-forming perennial grass. Well adapted to cool, humid areas. Needs reasonably good drainage, grows on poorer and drier soils and those with lower acidity. Excellent for open sun and shade. Forms a dense turf with good wear resistance. Mixes well with bluegrass and turf-type ryegrasses. Grows well on slopes and banks; has a good appearance when left unmown.
Seeding Rate 5 lbs/1000 sq.ft.

"Scaldis" Hard Fescue
A fine-textured, cool-season perennial bunchgrass. Adapted to drought areas of the continental U.S. Grows on dry, sandy, gravelly or rocky soils. Drought tolerant. Has good heat resistance. Grows more slowly than other fescues. Some varieties are used for turf where conditions indicate. Withstands moderate wear. Primary use is for erosion control and soil improvement.
Seeding rate 4 to 5 lbs/1000 sq.ft.

Sheep Fescue
Sheep fescue is a drought-resistant bunchgrass, somewhat hardier than any of the other fine-leaved fescues. Like hard fescue, this species does not produce much usable forage, but provides excellent ground cover. Sheep fescue is somewhat slow to establish; however, once established it is very persistent, winter-hardy, and drought-tolerant.

Description: Sheep fescue is a short (dwarf type), semierect bunchgrass that forms dense tufts with numerous, stiff, rather sharp, bluish-003366 leaves. Its overall stature is very similar to hard fescue, but somewhat shorter. Fine leaved, dark 003366, and low growing.

Adaptation: Sheep fescue is adapted to a wide range of soil conditions in areas of 12 inches or more annual precipitation. It is adapted to about the same climate as bluegrass, and can be grown in most northern, agricultural areas. It succeeds better than most grasses on sandy or gravelly soils. Sheep fescue tolerates shade and moderate acidity, making it best adapted to forests and foothills of the intermountain region. This species is best adapted for critical area stabilization, e.g., road cuts and fills, pipelines, forest clearcuts and turf. is recommended for controlling soil erosion in areas having an annual rainfall of 10-17 inches. It is well adapted for roadbanks, in terraces or diversions, as dryland turf, in waterways, on steep slopes planned for permanent cover, and other critical areas subject to erosion. It is not intended for livestock grazing although it is palatable.

Planting: sheep fescue may be seeded in the fall (late October to mid-November) or spring. Fall seeding is preferred in the low rainfall areas. Seed not over 3/8 inch deep, on a firm seedbed.

Seeding rate 25 lbs/acre

Water Warden ™ - 3 way Tall Fescue blend
A medium-textured bunchgrass developed from the more coarse forage types. Adaptation is more widespread because of greater heat and drought tolerance than other species of turf grasses. Deeper root system. Does well on heavy soils. Adapts to wide range of soil pH levels. Accepts poor drainage. General purpose turfgrass. Will develop a good, tough play lawn, excellent for erosion control and athletic fields. Has moderate shade tolerance; good wearability in spring and fall.
Seeding rate 10-12 lbs/1000 sq.ft.

Southern Comfort
Turf Type Tall Fescue
Southern Comfort is a new fescue variety with numerous improvements to offer. With fine-textured leaves and a natural dark 003366 color year round, Southern Comfort keeps looking great with substantially less fertilizer. It forms a dense lawn that helps crowd out unwanted weeds and unsightly grasses, like annual bluegrass, which can show up as light 003366 patches in other types of Turf Type Tall Fescue. Southern Comfort comes out of winter thick and healthy and blends well with other fine leafed grasses. Excellent drought tolerance.
Seeding rate 10-12 lbs/1000 sq.ft.

Reserve
Turf Type Tall Fescue
Reserve your seed now before this variety sells out. Developed for areas that are high traffic and low maintenance, Reserve has excellent resistance against brown patch disease and was also bred to maintain superior turf quality under less optimum management conditions. Reserve is your key to a healthy and easily maintained turf. Reserve is disease resistant, heat tolerant, drought tolerant, and wear resistant.
Seeding rate 10-12 lbs/1000 sq.ft.
