RYEGRASS SEED

Rustmaster Annual Ryegrass
This well known variety shows dense and rapid growth of good quality forage when seeded in the fall. Since Rustmaster is a diploid, a higher dry matter percentage can be expected compared to tetraploid varieties, making silage and hay production easier. Additional festures of Rustmaster include excellent rust resistance and flexabillity for either grazing or mechanical harvest. Rustmaster is useful for either conventional or frost seeding.

Originating from a breeding program in Mississippi, Rustmaster is our tried and true annual ryegrass for use in the Southern States. It has been used with great results in many locations. As the name implies, Rustmaster is resistent to rust, which is the main desease concern with annual ryegrass. For either late season grazing or cutting, Rustmaster gives good performance. For enhanced forage quality, mix with red clover.
Seeding Rate: 25 lbs an acre

Abundant Annual Ryegrass

A new generation ryegrass with exceptional plant vigor, forage yielding ability, stress tolerance and disease resistance. Abundant has high levels of resistance to the major diseases infecting forage ryegrass, including crown and leaf rust, leaf spot and scald, powdery mildew and pythium blight. Abundant has performed well in forage trials at experimental stations in the Southeastern USA.

Abundant has increased plant size, wider more succulent leaves and larger plant cells with higher water content than diploid annual ryegrasses. Abundant products excellent succulent grazing during the entire forage season from fall to late spring in Southestern USA and even longer in cooler regions. Abundant, can be sown in combination with fall sown grains and annual clovers for even better long term grazing. Protein content is in the 12 to 25% range depending on nitrogen levels applied and stage of growth at harvest.

Abundant can be used to quickly stabilize disturbed sites subject to erosion because seedling establishnment and root growth are rapid. This makes abundant and excellent choice for quick erosion control as well as for pasture uses.
Seeding Rate: 25-30 lbs an acre

Dalita Hybrid Ryegrass

Dalita is the world's most famous hybrid ryegrass and has showd wide adaptability and proven high yields, establishment speed and desease resistance. The logical choice where the 1-year persistency of annual ryegrass is not long enough., Dalita will easily last for two yeard and even a third year in mild conditions with sufficient water in the summer. Italian rype hybrids are high yielding than perennial types, with lower persistance, but far better persistence than annual or italian ryegrasses.

With an expected lifespan of three years under good conditions, Dalita is an excellent choice for short term pasture when high yields and high forage quality are both required. In a mixture, Dalita can be used to provide fast forage production in the early years of the stand, while slower developing species like fescue and orchardgrass are developing.
Seeding rate 30 lbs/acre.

Polly Hybrid Ryegrass

Polly is one of the first hybrids of perennial type and it still has a wide reecognition for its qualities, also being the offical standard variety in some European countries. Compared to other hybrid ryegrasew, Polly has a better disease resistance, and the regrowth after cutting has very few stesm which results in extremely high forage quality. Italian type hybrids will have high initial production, where as perennial hybrids like Polly will have better summer yields and will be more persistant.

Polly is one of our most popular varieties. It is used for hay and silage production as well as intensive grazing with excellent results. The fact the Polly is suited to cutting as well as grazing makes Polly very useful in mixtures with other grasses and legumes.
Seeding rate 30 lbs/acre.

Calibra Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass

Calibra is up to 6 days later heading than Tetramax. This variety was "born" to power our intermediate heading mixtures because of its outstanding yielding ability and qualitative traits. Calibra posseses very high desease resistance and tolerates close grazing. Fair to good winterhardiness has been reported in most trials. Calibra will become one of the most grown tetraploid intermediates world wide in the next decade. Very good results have been obtained in many European countries.

Calibra is one of our most important winterhardy ryegrasses. In areas that experience periodic winter kill of perennial ryegrass stands, Calibra should improve the chance of having a successful stand of perennial ryegrass. Calibra is very well suited to management intensive grazing, but hay and silage management will work as well. When mixed with white clover, Calibra forms an unbeatable pasture.

Calibra is excellent for grazing, silage and green chop. It also makes good hay and is good for overseeding and frost seeding.
Seeding rate 30 lbs/acre.

Annual Ryegrass

A major cool-season, vigorous bunchgrass grown primarily in the Pacific Coast States west of the Cascades. Also used for over-seeding warm season turfgrasses and as a winter annual in the southern U.S. Adapted to a wide variety of soil conditions. Palatable, tolerates heavy grazing. Used for pasture, hay, silage, cover crop, temporary lawns, and short-term erosion control. Rapid germination and establishment, tolerates heavy soils, low pH ranges, and poor drainage. Needs an annual rainfall of 12 inches or more.
Seeding rate 20 to 25 lbs/acre.

Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass

An important cool-season bunchgrass well adapted in the Pacific Northwest and also extensively used in the rest of the U.S. for overseeding already established pastures. Relatively short-lived perennial grass often used on lowlands, soils with poor drainage, and on acidic soils. Adapted to a wide range of soil conditions west of the cascades. Can be grown under irrigation or on dryland areas with a minimum of 15 inches of rainfall east of the cascades. Does best in cool, most regions with mild winters; tolerates heavy grazing. Widely used in mixtures for pasture, hay, erosion control, and rough lawns. Tends to go dormant in summer months. Nutritious and palatable. Germinates very rapidly. Newly seeded pastures may be grazed within two months of seeding. Tetraploid ryegrasses are more vigorous, more leafy, more drought resistant, and more palatable than the diploid varieties.
Seeding rate 20 to 25 lbs/acre.

Calibra Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass

Calibra is up to 6 days later heading than Tetramax. This variety was "born" to power our intermediate heading mixtures because of its outstanding yielding ability and qualitative traits. Calibra is excellent for grazing, silage and green chop. It also makes good hay and is good for overseeding and frost seeding.

Faithful Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass

is an early maturing tetraploid perennial ryegrass that is quick to establish. Faithful has an excellent feed value. The long tender leaves are sweet and are preferred over many other species of grasses. Faithful can be expected to produce high yields and excellent forage for the livestock producer.

Faithful excels as a grass used in grazing, silage, hay or green chop and used in combination with other forages including clover and other forage grasses to produce excellent pasture.
Seeding rate 30 lbs/acre.

Sikem Italian Ryegrass

Sikem has performed very well in frost seeding trials in Wisconsin. When frost seeding, establishment and rapid growth after germination are important features. Resistance to premature germination is another very important characteristic possessed by Sikem. Sikem starts it growth early in the spring, which gives the maximum opportunity for a high quality first cut. Sikem has a n exceptional resistance to frsot, which gives it a good chance to survive its first winter, which one of the many characteristics that seperate Italian ryegrass from annual ryegrass.

Sikem works well as a replacement for annual ryegrass. Espectially in cases where higher forage quality is desired, or where the one year persistence an annual ryegrass is not sufficient. Sikem is an excellent choice for overseeding pastures in the fall to improve aging stands. Sikem really shines in a mixture with red clover for overseeding in the fall or frost seeding in late winter.
Seeding rate 25 lbs/acre.
