This heavily blooming annual plant is native to California, but will grow anywhere in the U.S. will grow in sun or light shade. One of the few wildflowers that prefers sandy soil and temperatures that are not too hot, but is somewhat adaptable.

This annual is good at reseeding itself if seed falls on bare ground; otherwise, it just lives one year. Will grow quickly and bloom heavily before it is killed by frost. Will grow in all regions of North America in sun or light shade. Soil should be loose because seed is very tiny. Press seed into the surface of the soil, but do not cover. Plant spring or fall after frosts. Very good in meadows or stand alone with its rose/purple clusters of small flowers. Will flower in just 6 - 8 weeks after germination.

Quick growing annual that will bloom heavily and then die with frost. May reseed itself if seed falls on barren ground. Will grow almost anywhere in full sun. Prefers good soil, but will adapt to almost any environment except one that is almost always wet. Loose or heavy soil is ok for cosmos. Even in poor conditions, that plants will remain green and attractive.

Even though corn poppy is an annual, it will regrow strongly the following year if seed falls on bare ground. Will grow in all regions of North America in full sun. Red poppy grows best in loose soil, not heavy clay. It also prefers a neutral pH of around 7, but it is adaptable. Seed is very tiny so it should not be covered by soil or other matter. May be sown in spring or fall after frost. Fall seeding produces very early spring blooms.
